Work Experience at One Man Band

"Getting as much work experience as possible in your chosen career, or areas that you are interested in, will help you in the future. It will look good on your CV and be useful to include on job applications."

At One Man Band, we are pleased to offer work experience to students in school years 10-13.

Working in a music shop doesn't mean you just sit around playing your favourite instruments (well, not all the time!). But don't think you'll be stuck on tea-duty all day either; work experience students at One Man Band are involved in all areas of the business, including setting up the shop, serving customers, organising stock and deliveries, and caring for instruments.

We offer 1-week work experience placements all year round, but they fill up quickly, so don't wait around.

To apply for work experience
Please write to Lee Roberts by post and include your CV and covering letter, explaining why you want to complete work experience with us and what strengths and interests you have that will help you.
If we feel you are suitable for work experience at One Man Band, we will invite you to an interview. We will also have to complete some paperwork with you for your school/college, which confirms the dates and details of your placement.

The 'boring' bit...
Work experience students are counted as part of our staff, and are treated as such:
You will be expected to work Monday to Friday from 9:30 - 5:30 and will receive 1 hour of breaks, divided up during the day. While you are with us, you are not only representing your school, but also One Man Band. We, and our customers, expect you to be smartly dressed (smart trousers/skirt, school shoes and an open collar shirt or blouse) and to be professional at all times. During your placement you are likely to come into contact with confidential information, such as customers' details and business information, and will be expected to maintain confidentiality by not sharing this.

Work experience at One Man Band has been fantastic (despite all the hoovering and dusting!)

I've really enjoyed meeting new people and working as part of a team.

I think that I have gained valuable knowledge and experience from my time here and I would encourage anyone to consider One Man Band.

Working at One Man Band has been great.

The staff are friendly and welcoming, and I enjoyed the responsibility of the jobs, as well as playing the instruments! I enjoyed being part of the team and it really helped me think about work in the future.

I would recommend this placement to anyone with a musical background who is willing to work hard.
