Product Description

Featuring the same grand piano action as the N3, the Yamaha AvantGrand N2 hybrid piano is an elegant instrument for pianists who want grand piano quality in a compact piece of furniture.

The Yamaha AvantGrand N2 hybrid piano offers the seamless integration of acoustic and digital piano technologies - the latest stage in the piano's continued evolution.

Combining the convenience of playing with headphones, master volume control and a carefully selected handful of instrument voices that feature on a digital piano, with the sound, response and feel of an acoustic grand piano, the Yamaha N2 is a delight to play.

The addition of Yamaha's Tactile Response System (TRS) accurately recreates the reverberations that occur in a piano

Some people are still put off a digital piano, unsure if it will be able to accurately reproduce the sound or response of an acoustic piano - no-one who's played an AvantGrand piano in our shop has been left in any doubt that THIS exceeds expectations!

The two most significant features of an acoustic piano are captured in the AvantGrand N2; the touch and the sound.

The piano touch

  • The hammers of the AvantGrand N2 are in the same configuration as a grand piano striking the “virtual strings” from underneath, allowing minute adjustments to the weight distribution of the hammers, and to the movement of the hammers themselves, for a smoother feel when playing.
  • The wood construction of the keyboard mirrors that of the grand piano, and features New Ivory II on the white keys. This is a unique new material developed by Yamaha, with a texture superbly close to that of natural ivory, allowing you to play swift passages with ease while also offering a sure response for slower pieces.{C}{C}
  • In addition to a hammer sensor, the AvantGrand features a non-contact key sensor ensuring there is no restriction on the movement of the keys, allowing excellent recognition of the player's pressure on the keyboard, timing, and the other delicate nuances that affect musical expression. This provides an impressive sensitivity across the entire range from pianissimo through to fortissimo, and the ability to respond to even the quickest trills with clarity.

The piano sound

  • With the introduction of the AvantGrand series, Yamaha took a revolutionary approach to sampling, recording and playback of the notes of an actual acoustic piano.
  • Yamaha carefully selected the best single instrument from their CFIIIS full concert grand pianos for sampling.
  • Samples were taken at four critical locations across the piano soundboard allowing AvantGrand models to recreate the original sound of a superb grand piano almost to perfection.
  • The AvantGrand speaker system has been designed to ensure that this sound is heard at its very best. A three-way system featuring woofer, mid-range and tweeter speakers reproduce the rich natural resonance of the soundboard accurately.
  • Each of the low, mid, and high-frequency ranges have been given their own amplifier to prevent interference between ranges. This innovative configuration allows the instrument’s outstanding sound system to reproduce the nuances of each individual note.
  • For even greater accuracy, speakers are positioned and optimised to the shape of the instrument.

Tactile Response System (TRS)

  • The sound of an acoustic piano resonates throughout its entire body. The bass range in particular is an essential part of the reverberation that is continually transmitted to a player's body.
  • The newly-developed TRS focuses on reproducing reverberations of the piano, featuring two transducers in the soundboard, the area underneath the keyboard, resonating natural reverberation throughout the entire instrument.
  • The player's hands on the keyboard transmit the natural reverberations felt from the feet as they depress the pedals; the epitome of real piano playing.
  • This system can be turned on and off, and the vibration set to one of three levels.

If you click-and-buy a digital piano from our website, we will offer what every other mail-order company does – boxed warehouse stock delivered by courier. They are contracted to deliver to the driveway; it is left to you to move, assemble and set up the instrument.
When you buy in-store
There is such a range of digital pianos that having a product specialist to help you understand which models would suit your needs before you are guided through them is priceless.

But that’s just the beginning…
We have the knowledge and resources to personally deliver, assemble and configure your new piano exactly where you want it – top floor, basement, it’s up to you! Once we have checked your piano, we then spend time teaching you how to use the essential functions (even the simplest models have extra features that we can guide you through) so you can get the most enjoyment out of it. Of course, this can’t always be learnt in one go, so we are on hand to teach you how to use more of the features as you progress – a free service that never expires.
Add to this the other facilities we offer, including finance options, part exchanges and removal of your old piano, buying in-store definitely gives the best value for money.
